Around The Museum Blog
September 2013
Union Pacific’s steam crew continues their work in September. While their schedule varies day-by-day and is subject to change, some visitors to the Los Angeles County Fair have been able to observe the crew’s work on the Big Boy #4014 and ask questions about their steam locomotives.
The 2013 Los Angeles County Fair may be among the last opportunity to see the retired Big Boy #4014 at RailGiants. The Fair runs most days between August 30th and September 29th.
Panel track sections recently arrived for use in temporary placement of RailGiants’ Outer Harbor Terminal Railway and Fruit Growers Supply Company (Sunkist) Climax locomotives. Both these locomotives sit behind the Big Boy and need to be temporarily relocated onto another track.
All locomotives at RailGiants Train Museum were moved in 1989 to their current locations. Before then, all our equipment was located on the White Avenue side of the fairgrounds.
