Our new SD40-2c Locomotive, Union Pacific #3105 arrived in U.P.’s West Colton yard on Friday afternoon, December 20, 2013, at 2:28pm. This locomotive departed Fort Worth TX three days earlier. Before then, it had been serviced, cleaned, painted, and received new decals in North Little Rock AR.

From what we saw while it resided in West Colton, no other locomotive was as clean or as bright as #3105.

Visitors to RailGiants Train Museum journey a mile across the fairgrounds parking lot to visit Big Boy #4014. Just behind the green line of shrubs is Metrolink’s San Gabriel Subdivision. During December, Union Pacific’s steam crew moved Big Boy forward and backward many times while shifting the panel track. This was needed to decrease the angle between the panel track and the Metrolink line to lessen the curve during Big Boy’s upcoming return to the national railroad network.
